ThinkEx can generate flashcard sets and quizzes directly from the content you’ve added to your workspace. Both live on your canvas as interactive cards, so you can study alongside your sources without switching apps.

Generating flashcards

To create a flashcard set, select one or more source cards and ask the AI to generate flashcards from them.
1

Select your sources

Click the checkmark on each card you want the AI to draw from — a PDF chapter, a YouTube transcript, an audio recording, or any combination.
2

Ask the AI

Type a prompt like:
  • “Create a flashcard deck from these notes.”
  • “Make flashcards for the key terms in this chapter.”
  • “Generate 20 flashcards covering the main concepts here.”
The AI reads your selected cards and produces a flashcard set tailored to the content.
3

Find the deck on your canvas

A new flashcard card appears on your canvas. It’s titled automatically (e.g., “Flashcard Deck”) but you can rename it by right-clicking and selecting Rename.
Be specific about what you want on the cards. “Create flashcards for vocabulary terms, with the term on the front and the definition on the back” gives better results than a generic request.

Studying with flashcards

Each flashcard card shows one card at a time. Click the card to flip between the front and back. If the deck has more than one card, use the left and right arrow buttons that appear when you hover over the card to move between cards. A counter in the bottom center shows your position in the deck (e.g., 3 / 12). Controls:
  • Click — flip the card
  • ← / → — navigate to the previous or next card
  • Scroll / Lock toggle — switch between flip mode (click to flip) and scroll mode (scroll through card content without flipping)
  • Pencil icon — open the full deck editor to read or edit all cards at once
When you navigate to a new card, it always starts showing the front side.

Editing flashcards

To edit a flashcard set, click the pencil icon in the top-right corner of the card, or right-click and select Edit. This opens the full deck view where you can see every card’s front and back content. You can also ask the AI to update the deck: “Add 5 more flashcards about enzyme kinetics to this deck.” Select the flashcard card before asking so the AI knows which deck to update.

Generating a quiz

Quizzes work the same way as flashcards — select your sources and ask the AI.
1

Select your sources

Select the cards you want the quiz to cover.
2

Ask the AI

Type a prompt like:
  • “Create a 10-question quiz from this material.”
  • “Generate a multiple-choice quiz on the causes of World War I.”
  • “Make a true/false quiz based on this lecture transcript.”
3

Find the quiz on your canvas

A new quiz card appears on your canvas, ready to take.

Quiz question types

The AI generates two types of questions:
TypeFormat
Multiple choiceQuestion with 4 answer options (A, B, C, D)
True/falseStatement with True or False as the only options
Each question includes:
  • An explanation shown after you answer, whether correct or not
  • An optional hint you can reveal before submitting your answer

Taking a quiz

1

Select an answer

Click one of the answer options. Your selection is highlighted in blue.
2

Check your answer

Click Check. Correct answers turn green; incorrect answers turn red. The correct answer is always revealed.
3

Read the explanation

An explanation appears below the options after you submit. Read it to understand why the answer is correct.
4

Move to the next question

Click Next to continue. Use ← / → to jump to any question, including ones you’ve already answered.
5

Finish and see your score

After answering the last question, click Finish. Your score is shown as a fraction and percentage.
Hints: If a question has a hint, a lightbulb button appears before you submit your answer. Click it to reveal the hint without seeing the answer. Progress bar: A progress bar below the options tracks how far through the quiz you are. Restart: Click Restart at any time to reset the quiz and try again from the beginning. Your previous answers are cleared.

Adding more questions

After finishing a quiz, click Update Quiz to ask the AI to add more questions. The AI adds new questions to the existing quiz — your already-answered questions and session progress are preserved. A notification tells you how many new questions were added, and the quiz jumps to the first unanswered question. You can also ask the AI directly at any time: “Add 5 more questions to this quiz.” Select the quiz card first so the AI knows which quiz to update.
